Let 's get right to it. The goal of any business, including the one your boss is running, is to create new customers. To create new customers, every business needs to do 5 things. First, customers need to know you exist. Second, is to get customers interested in you and your product/service. Third, is to get customers to want your product/service. Fourth, is to have customers buy your product/service. Finally, is to have customers to return. Do these 5 steps sounds familiar? They should, I just explained the standard marketing funnel. Wouldn 't your boss be surprised to know that this is exactly what social media does.

Before walking into your boss ' office create a social media strategy. First, it shows that you are committed and second it lays out answers to questions your boss is sure to have. In your strategy include items such as your goals, how much time it will take, and what social media sites you want to venture in (where your target audience is obviously). There are many free social media strategy templates online. Check out HootSuite and Uptown Studios for their free social media strategy templates.

Armed with the above statistics and these talking points, your boss will ask you why haven 't you asked
