Most English clubs started as a branch of local sports clubs, local union teams i.e a team of warehouse dockers, fishermen. From the inception of football or at its earlier onset when football was treated as a grassroots movement, Football built its foundation in the fabric of community. A certain connectivity still remains between football and fans of football. Messrs Adam brown, Tim Crabbe, and Gavin Mellor all seem to recognize the aforementioned point; community is a focal point in the success of a football club, and is decisive that both ( in this context football and community) form a symbiotic relationship necessary for reaching the ultimate outcome of success in football, which most cases translate to the number of trophies being stored in many a cabinet. Messrs Adam Brown et al further propagate this relationship in their journal written for the International Review of Sociology accurately titled ‘English Professional Football And Its Communities’ when they opine: “At the same time that 'community ' connections and identities are being expressed strongly through football, the very term 'community ' has itself become the focus of renewed interest within popular discourse and amongst academics, politicians and policy makers. Several facets of the premier league needs advancement in terms of reach and engagement principally when targeting older users of social media specifically ages 45 and above. Before social media, most fans would have to wait for the next game, or reduce to a few choice opinionated analysis from the local media i.e sports section of many notable newspapers. Nowadays, due to the social media boom several sites and niche websites and/or mobile apps have stemmed from the demand for improved connectivity between brand and consumer. Stat sites have made analysing the game more accessible and easier. This is mostly noted in current fan banter, several sites such as squawka.com are used to back up points when debating what team has the better goalie. In a nutshell, the current global technological village we live in exacerbates the need for instant news and updates. Social media has proved to be the perfect platform for feeding the constant desire or need for engagement that is currently urged in our current societal
