In this chapter, Sarah had died and Abraham is finding a proper place to bury her. I am thankful to God that we live in in a world where there are sin and death, but because of Jesus, we can enter into heaven when we die. I am also so grateful that God has allowed us to be with Him for eternity when we pass just like Sarah and I think that is amazing in its self.
In this chapter, it shows how Abraham took care of his son, by finding the right women to marry him. Abraham believed the promise God had given him about building his family in that he would have many descendants and because of this God helped him find a wife for Isaac. Abraham was very old and was likely to die soon, so he wanted to find a wife for his son before he died. Abraham told his slave to go back to his father’s land to find a wife because Isaac should not marry a daughter of Canaan. He saw that the Canaanites were evil and filled with hatred and that they would be a society that would destroy itself soon. This can be related in today’s world with Christians. Therefore, Isaac prayed to God and did not betray his wife, as Abraham did. God had promised to multiply Abraham, and now Isaac’s, family. Isaac prayed continually to God to help his wife be able to have children and did not give up on God. He believed that God would give up on him his family, so he did not lose faith in God.

The problem is we sometimes overlook big decision and do not think carefully about them, like Esau giving his brother his birthright. I think when we have a big decision to make we should pray to God about it, instead of making a quick decision. I like a lot of what you said, but I was not sure what you meant when you talked about Protestantism and divorce. It seemed that you were saying Protestantism arose from a reaction to culture's view on divorce. That, because the Catholic Church did not allow divorce, a sect broke off (Protestant) that allowed divorce. This is not the case. In a commentary on the book of Matthew, Martin Luther (the originator of the Protestant Reformation) said, "Those who want to be Christians are not to be divorced, but each to retain his or her spouse, and bear and experience good and evil with the same, although he or she may be strange, peculiar and faulty; or, if there be a divorce, that the parties remain unmarried; and that it will not do to make…
