Based on what I’ve read about Kingston, it seems to me that the organization has big trust issues. Managing the layoffs the wrong way caused the employees get the feeling of being betrayed, and mistreated. It will be challenging to bring the morale back on top again, however, if Knight takes necessary steps and ensure the employees that he is in the same team with them, it is possible to bring people back together, and return to positive work environment again.

He will need to do a lot of these meetings before the employees can understand and trust him again. He chose the right direction, but he needs to realize that it will be really difficult, and, as a leader, he needs to keep calm and stay professional. In this case, he tries to do the best for the company, and he really is doing a lot of good things. However, it is more like his personal victories, which make the company look good also. On the other hand, all these short term wins will mean nothing in the long run, if he does not have support and trust of his team. I can connect Knight’s behavior with the one, which leaders demonstrated during the experiment with cookies. (Sutton, p.44) He is too concentrated with his success, and his own needs and wants. He needs to get involved more inside of the workplace: talk more with employees, figure out their concerns, and listen to their suggestions.
