My uncle Gregory, at the age of 15 years, had his entire life ahead of him. He died after being shot by his friend when they were playing with a gun. I believe gun safety should be taught to all kids in schools. According to Buchanan County Sheriff Bill Puett, "With children, you need to take the mystery away from firearms, education is one of the better things when it comes to weapons." That way, it's not a mystery and they don't have a desire to try and discover what a gun is." All children should be educated in gun safety because knowledge does not kill people, ignorance does. One reason why firearm safety should be taught in school is that children in the United States lose their lives every day due to unintentional firearm accidents. Another reason to teach firearm safety in school is that many people in the United States own firearms, even if you do not own one and you would never want your kids around one. They could go to one of their friends' houses and encounter a loaded firearm. Some people believe that if we teach children about firearm safety, they would just become obsessed with firearms. Tell the family that lost their child because they were at a friend's house and playing with a gun. It could be anybody's child getting killed. Just because you think that your child is safe and smart enough doesn't mean they shouldn't be educated. Knowledge doesn't kill people, ignorance does. One thing parents or community members can do to help with this problem is contact your local school board and go through the proper requirements for you to present to the school board. Another thing you can do as a parent is get yourself educated on firearm safety, and then teach your children about firearm safety, Then when your children become old enough is you can put
