How Pumpkin Changed My Life

It came to me all of the sudden. I recalled a story that I absolutely needed to tell my mom. I broke out in a run throughout the house to the master bedroom. As I maneuvered my way through our home, I turned with the sharp corner of the stairs. My arms flapped wildly around, and that is when it happened. My hand faintly brushed a massive pumpkin on the ledge of our stairs, and down it went. I froze mid run, and watched in horror as the pumpkin tumbled down. When there were no more stairs for it to plummet down, it bounced higher than a pumpkin should ever be able to, and created a colossal, pumpkin-shaped hole in our wall. With tears in my eyes, I walked to my mother, and explained the falling pumpkin. She curiously wandered to the stairs, and couldn’t see the …show more content…
She expected pumpkin to be everywhere, but the ludicrous fruit didn’t even have a crack. When she saw the hole in the wall, my mom laughed and told me it was fixable. This is an example of a life event. We all have countless life events, but the important ones make us who we are today. The most defining event of my life was when my dad had two strokes, and almost perished. On December 4, 2013, there was no electricity, so school was out. At the beginning of the day I was jubilant, but the bliss quickly turned to the boredom of no power. When the lights finally came back on, we drove to my Grandpa Ricks’ house for a visit. While we were there, my grandpa’s phone rang, and peculiarly, it was for my mom. She listened for a second and, suddenly all the colors depleted from her face. After she hung up, she desperately explained that the call was from my Grandpa Berrett, and that my dad was being taken to the emergency room.
