Development and Personality Psychology Report This report will be addressing different aspects of development and personality psychology. First it will go through seven items in development, then the same with personality psychology. 1) The types of work professionals in development psychology do might be Gerontology aide, Child Life Specialist, Social Policy Research, or many others. The previous titles would work with older adults, children, or a government think tank respectfully, among other possibilities (Kuther and Morgan, 2012, p. 144-153). They are positions of caring for others through psychological and other needs and desires. For the positions mentioned, a masters or doctoral degree is required (Personality Psychology, n.d., para. 4). To get the masters degree, at least six years of study are required, and more for a doctoral degree. 3) A description of work settings and average incomes one can expect in the careers of developmental psychology shows that they will be working with people for people. For instance a Gerontology Aide would work with older adults, possibly in a nursing or retirement home, and the average income “was $27,280... in 2008, Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2010” (Kuther and Morgan, 2012, p. 145). With a graduate degree one might work as a scientist-practitioner, media consulting, or social policy as previously mentioned and the pay increases dramatically for those positions. A description of work settings and average incomes one can expect in the careers of personality psychology are varying. “One may treat personality disorders, like narcissism and obsessive-compulsive disorder, or help businesses and organizations connect with people and be successful” (Personality Psychology, n.d., para. 2). Why are our hero 's so moving for us when they create something or do a good, or bad deed? It is because one can see themselves in the action and can reinforce the reasons these things should be done, and/or how to do them. 7) A description of a Hot Topic that fits with what I know about developmental psychology is health. With new diseases, globalization, and a growing population how are humans to keep going and growing? It is good that someone is studying this because it is obvious that there are problems that are human made like war and slavery, and external like the elements and atmosphere that need to be dealt with to make the world the best it can be. A description of a Hot Topic that fits with what I know about personality psychology is behavior. There are some behaviors that cannot be tolerated by a civilized society. Learning how these behaviors go and grow will be insightful to figure out why one might influence themselves to staying within these lines or crossing over
