Anderson says that “nearly all parents talk to their teen about acceptable online behavior, but discussions about “real life” conduct are more frequent etc…Virtually all parents – 98% – report ever speaking with their teen about what is appropriate or inappropriate conduct in school, at home and in their social lives, with 56% saying they have these conversations frequently”(Anderson 2016:11). Another example and answer to the question at hand are more statistics that were found to be true, “39% frequently discuss the online content their teen views; 36% frequently discuss appropriate television, music, books, magazines or other media; while another 36% frequently talk with their teen about their online behavior towards others” (Anderson 2016:12). In order for the colossal amount of information that had to be found and analyzed, a group of people had to perform the research needed, and that was by the “Pew Research Center staff” (Anderson 2016:18). The “quantitative fieldwork was conducted by the GfK Group (GfK, formerly Knowledge Networks). Specifically, the survey examined the attitudes of teens ages 13 to 17 years old, as well as those of their parents, toward technology” (Anderson 2016:18). Also, to emphasize on the research that the center (as well as Monica …show more content…
Another important topic discussed would be the statistical numbers to which parents actually perform these actions. Half (49%) of parents of 13- to 14-year-olds say they frequently talk with their teen about what types of online content are acceptable for them to view, compared with 32% of parents whose teens ages 15 to 17”(Anderson 2016:12). Lastly, the statistical finding would be that “94% of parents say they ever talk with their teen about what they should share online, while 92% say they talk with their teen about what constitutes appropriate online behavior towards others” (Anderson 2016:11). These are three of the major findings of the article “Parents, Teens, and Digital Monitoring” (Anderson 2016:1) In conclusion, this assignment was to summarize the article of choosing and show the way in which the article demonstrated the research design, hypothesis, statistical analysis, and major findings. In all, all the information has been presented and described. The object of this article in summary, was to examine and present in what way, as well as how often, do parents enforce rules of monitoring technology, as well as acknowledging how less often persons use technical means to do
