Finding a partner for life is considerably important for the majority of people. Many approaches can be used to find the significant other. Normally, people will approach a person, whom he or she finds interesting. Matchmaking is also a traditional way of finding mate. From there, they go on date, to find out whether that person suitable as a romantic partner, mostly for the long-term relationship. Over time, the methods for finding significant other are changed. At present, in the generation where technology plays a significant role in people’s life, it is undeniable that it changes the way people interact and communicate with other persons. Afterwards, people go for a date to get to know the other person better. Online dating has slightly different strategy on that. Online dating users are required to give their information in their profile to strengthen the likelihood to find someone who has similar interest with them. After finding the similarity between these people, the users will approach the target by sending messages to get to know each other. In this part, both parties weigh their choice on whether this particular person has the best description matches with their choice. This part is fairly different from the traditional dating, where online daters can decide whether they will have more chance on being together or not before begin to meet each other in person through online conversation they have. This method has an advantage for people who are shy and have difficulties in getting intimate with new people.
Online dating is growing and it is possible that this method will overpower the traditional way of dating in the future. With high rates of successfulness and different purpose of online dating site usage, people will grow their interest in using online dating site for many different reasons. There are evidently some issues about scam with this method, but it seems that its probability is quite unfavourable in comparison to the positive aspects of online
