The cognitive ability of an older adults can decline, but their experiences and life events can compensate for their lack of cognitive ability. Julie the main character of the movie The Intern, first thinks that she will have to babysit Ben because he is an older adult, but as the movie goes on Ben is shown to be an asset because he is wise and is able to help out and give great advice since he is older. Socioemotional is being able to have successful interactions and relationships with others. It’s very important for older adults to have healthy relationships with family and friends. Ben in the movie is able to forge good working relationships with his coworkers and he makes a bond with Julies and her family.
