At a very young age, I always dreamed of playing an important role within the medical field. During playtime, my toys were always the instruments used on a daily basis by health care physicians and nurses such as stethoscopes, sphygmomanometers, and needles. Under my grandmother’s care, I would always pretend to measure her blood pressure and listen to her heartbeat all the time. As the years passed, and even before I started college, I knew that I belonged in the medical field, but the fear of failure in the difficult pre-requisite courses required for the program held me back from achieving my dreams. It was not until just a few months ago when I was hospitalized that I had an epiphany. I realized that nurses can make significant positive impacts in the lives of human beings and that the best feeling in this world is to know that you contributed to someone’s life. Since then, I became a strong believer in the idea that if you make a positive impact on a person, then that particular person will pass it on to other people. Overall, they will continue to spread positivism to the world, and thus, create a better society. Furthermore, becoming a registered nurse will carry out this dream of providing the best of help I can give to others and result in the satisfaction of my heart’s desire.
I don’t doubt that the St. David’s School of Nursing is looking for the best, perhaps the perfect applicant. As the decision committee decides which applicant to accept, I believe I…
