How Northwest Christian Changed My Life

An experience that changed my life forever was coming to Northwest Christian for high school. Before I attended Northwest I spent all of elementary school and middle school at Rancho Solano. Although my time there was great, it was taught in a strictly academic worldview. Then during my eighth grade year, I made the decision to enroll in Boulder Creek High School. I began to get nervous because of the change in size, but then I started to embrace the idea of change. Over the last six months of eighth grade I kept asking my parents to shadow Northwest Christian. Once I chose my day to shadow I started to get the feeling that Northwest is where I needed to be. The day I shadowed was amazing and I enrolled in Northwest. The change was super difficult …show more content…
Without the relationships I have made with the girls in my grade at Northwest I am not sure if I would have even continued my walk with God. Not only have my friends been a major influence, but so have my teachers. During class they just have shown the light of Jesus through their teaching. Some teachers have sat with me and talked for hours, and that has really opened my eyes as to how much they want to pour into us. Another huge experience that has changed my outlook on life was going to the service project for the Isaac school district. The children attending the schools at the Isaac school district are in intense poverty. I have gone during the school days to help out in the classroom, to bring Thanksgiving dinner boxes, and to deliver a Christmas gifts to the kids. The kids on these campuses have the most amazing attitudes in the worst conditions. Some of the children go home on Friday and don't have a meal until they come back to school on Monday. It has made me appreciate everything that I have because of their happiness with nothing. They are so kind, loving, and appreciative to us when

Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of working with and getting to know one of the most positive, caring, and faithful people at Saint Mary’s College. This student, Mary Luka, is also a teacher candidate and one of my best friends. During my junior year of college, I hit a low point and she was one of the only people that could keep me focused on my goal and bettering myself. Her commitment to God, her family, her friends, and her students is not only unbreakable, it is inspiring. Mary’s humility and positive outlook on life is captivating, and something I strive to attain in my own life.…

To add to these, wonderful news; my older brother was going with me too. Goody.…

leave and go eat dinner at my grandma house and then go back to church every Sunday evening for youth group. We attended a very large Moravian church, which is a type of Christianity. Every year since I was in second grade I have attended a Moravian camp, up on top of a mountain, for a week every summer. All of my church friends and some of my school friends also attended the camp and there were three summers when I attended the summer camp twice. While at camp there were activities going on all the time such as a sports game, hiking, cards, swimming, or cooking during the day and something going on every night like campfires, movies, singing camp songs, or storytelling.…

I got involved with a small group with two other guys, one guy being a friend and the other being a campus staff guy. Through that small group we decided that our biggest need at the moment was being trained to read God word and able to share our faith with other people. I attended a 10 week long summer project in Tampa, Florida where I learned to share my faith for the first time and was able to led 5 people to Christ. It was a joy and a passion that begin to grow in my life. I developed a heart to take the gospel back to my campus where I wanted other people to hear the same thing that I had heard, knowing they could be in the same position I was at in college.…

Ever since I watched the movie Legally Blonde, it has been my dream (and probably most college girls) to join a sorority and have sisters like Elle Woods did. During the summer right before entering my freshman year at University of West Florida, I decided to research more on what sorority life is actually about. When doing my research, I found out my school had five Panhellenic sororities all of whom had different values and to join you have to get selected by going through a recruitment process that is a week long. I then started to research more about the chapters, making me fall in love instantly.…

Faith in Action Paper I spent my 15 faith service hours volunteering for Feed My Starving Children and I helped the maintenance crew around the school. While I did this I made new friends and grew as a person as well as in my faith. I probably spent about 8 or more of my service hours volunteering for Feed My Starving Children. Before when I was younger, I would go in because my older sister needed service hours and scoop some veggies and powder into a funnel for an hour and a half. Then after the session my sister would have me walk up to the counter and ask for a slip of paper with the service hours on it, so she give them to her school’s counselor and get the hours out of the way faster.…

Calvary Commission, the seminary that I stayed at, is located a few miles out of town on a land that seems to never end. I could walk miles and still find myself to be on Calvary Commission’s property. The first day I was there, my group and I went on a little hike up to the prayer chapel, which sat on the top of a hill, surrounded by trees, and a bonfire pit stood a few feet away. This was my group’s first real exposure to how great the people at Calvary Commission are.…
