As the years pass, people become older, new ones are born, people change, and life goes on. A huge stumble for me in the pathway of life was my dad passing away a few years ago. Since this has impacted my life forever, I have changed the way I look at life. We take many things for granted such as being able to wake up breathing, being able to walk and function properly, and being in good health. While you sit here not thinking about these things, others are struggling and trying their best to live through each day. My dad has been sick ever since I was born. From in and out of the hospital, going to doctor's appointments hoping for good news, and seeing him struggle some days just broke my heart to pieces. He is my hero. He was someone that could do anything, fix anything, pretty much a jack of all trades. He always worked so hard and proved to me that no matter what obstacles life brings you, you can overcome them. He always told me, "Always do your best at everything you …show more content…

While Struggling with a learning disability such as ADHD, the feeling of discouragement and illiteracy negatively impacted my academics as a child. I have faced several obstacles growing up with ADHD, but I realized that adhd is not a “disability”, it’s the ability to process knowledge at my own pace. That self-confidence is what gave me the encouragement and drive to seek a higher level of education and meet all my life goals. When I was a child and others would ask, “What do you want to be when you grow up”, my answer had always remained the same. I 've always been determined to be a nurse, nursing assistant, or work somewhere in the medical field.…

Some say that becoming a NICU nurse is a “calling”, I say it’s a blessing from god. First of all I have a very sincere desire to want to help and care for babies. I have to be able to watch success, and see some failures. Failures being the babies that do not survive, but I have to remember they are sent from god; therefore, he has the ability to take them away from us. Success is seeing babies that are told they will never service, and in the end be healthy.…

Reflection is a practice of recalling and analysing an event that has already took place, and speculating about what has occurred and finding different and more appropriate approaches that will help improve your decisions in the future (Daly, Speedy & Jackson, 2014, p. 120). It is my goal to pursue a career as a nurse. When I was little I loved to pretend I was Dr. Vicki, and I would "fix" the broken bones and bandage the injuries of my family members and stuffed animals all the time. As I grew older becoming a nurse became less of a dress up game and more of career goal. My interest in the health field was heightened by having an uncle who works as an EMT. My uncle Charlie always had stories to tell, and they were some of the most interesting and bizarre tales I'd ever heard.…

She always had stories to tell about her job and she never sugar coated them; this way I could really envision what it was like through a nurses’ eye.…

For as long as I remember, becoming a registered nurse was always my dream career; at first I had looked in to becoming a physician assistant but it became clear to me as I looked much deeper into both career choices and got first hand experience, I would want to pursue being a CRNA. As long as I remain on track and transfer into a nursing program after this year, I could see myself transitioning very smoothly into the health care field. As of right now, the health care field is the only career path I can envision myself not only being in, but staying in for as long as I am working. For as long as I’m working, I do not care about the money but simply to make a difference in peoples lives; I want to be someone they remember for being compassionate…

Metamorphosis Coming from a third world country where there aren’t many opportunities for work and funding for education, going to nursing school was a great opportunity. As I began interacting with patients, nursing was not just an opportunity, it became a passion. I really love and enjoy nursing and helping people.
