How Music Has Affected Our Culture

With all the different cultures of the world one of the only common ties in society is the use of music. Even the most secluded locations still have their own form of music which in a way makes music a universal language. Over the course of history countless technological advances have impacted music differently. With the invention of the computer the way we create music has been rewritten. The use of the computer to create music has changed our culture at its foundation with advancing music exponentially, but also causing some negative effects. Today’s culture would not be the same without the use of computers used to create music. With this awe-inspiring invention the use of computers in composing music have created its own subculture of electronic music listeners.

Though creating music might not have a clear negative impact the recreation of music has plagued our society. Personal computers allow individuals to recreate, and share files almost instantaneously. As we learned in lesson one even the early days of music in America copyright infringement had cause artists to not receive compensation for their creations. With the invention of the computer this issue has come back in full swing. This can be a major negative impact from the creation of music because it could stop the next popular song from ever being created.
