“We live in a box of space and time. Movies are windows in its walls. They allow us to enter other minds, not simply in the sense of identifying with the characters, although that is an important part of it, but by seeing the world as another person sees it.” - Roger Ebert. Each and everyone of us love movies, whether it’s romantic or thriller. We have been touched by movies or relate to movies, which is why we hold them close to us. But for a movie to catch our attention, it has to have the type of qualities we are looking for and it has to satisfy our standards. People can also have different critereons they look for when watching a movie. For instance, one person might be looking for good directing, costumes, and characters, while someone else might be searching for different types of criterons. For me however, the top criterions consists of excellent cinematography, acting, and music. These three items can make or break a movie.

Although The Great Gatsby has many wonderful merits to it, its best one has to be it’s cinimetography. Unfortunately I didn’t get to watch this in the theaters, but it still didn’t lessen its value. The aura and feelings in this movie is completely astonishing and spellbinding. Regardless of it being set in the early 1920’s, it has a cool futuristic look to it.
