The article by Rob Lynch entitles “How Media Relations is Similar to Dating,” takes a interesting look at our profession. While the author takes a lighthearted approach to showing the similarities of dating and media relations, he creates an interesting dynamic. One of the more interesting points the author made was the way individuals make connections. The way this is done in media relations is strikingly similar to the dating world. This is because not only does it call for an exchange of contact information but it also shows a mutual interest, much like dating. Another unique correlation that the author presented was how relationships can take a turn at any moment. He mentioned that much like dating, reporters can end a relationship

He then describes how adults who were at first skeptical about using social media got into using it on a regular basis, how social media can help you connect with people more, what the Dunbar number is and how it has changed, and how social media is ruining our lives. Neal Gabler’s essay, The Social Network made me realize how the deep social interaction in people’s lives have declined due the fake relationships shown in television show. In paragraph 6, Gabler claims that “instead of bringing comfort, [television] seems only to remind us of our alienation”. He believes television does not bring comfort but cuts us off from the world. However not all of his information is true, television can bring positivity.…

Many journalists believe that “emotional power can be harnessed” through visual media. One real-life journalist believes that television news has the power of “connect[ing] with the viewer’s heart” through storytelling. Dating is defined as being romantically involved with someone. The subject of dating and relationships is riddled with controversy because of the many different beliefs residing in today’s society. The most prevalent issue associated with dating is the debate concerning homosexuality and if they should be permitted to marry. While the world seems caught up in commotion a different pressing issue often goes forgotten to all except those who directly encounter it. Christians often argue over unequally yoked relationships, though this particular subject does not entangle as many people as the debate on homosexuality, it is still an ever pressing issue for today’s society.…
