How Martino Changed My Life

Martino finally went home after a long, exhausting day of football practice. To him, nothing was better than getting in bed and taking a nap. Today was no different. He changed into his sleep attire and got under the blankets. As he lay there, Martino was looking back at his day. When we went to school that day he was greeted by his buddies, went to his classes, and stayed after the final bell for practice. During theoretical science, which was his favorite class much to everyone's dismay, the teacher said, “A great man once said a happy man is too satisfied with the present to dwell on the future.” Martino didn’t think much of this until he was in bed that day.
He began to think about all the stress everything put him through, from school to sports to friends. Everything seemed so uncertain at that point, so bleak. It seemed impossible to get out. “And where is it that we are?” Questioned a still rather shocked Martino. “My mistake, I should explain in greater detail why I’m here. Have you ever caught yourself allowing your mind to become an excellent servant but a terrible master? The most valuable lesson that I have learned in my life thus far is the notion that the quality of life that I live is dependent upon the way that I choose to think. The individuals that we are and the individuals we aspire to be are hypothetically supposed to allign; for it is how we think that’ll determine whether or not the person you are now will be the person you aspire to be. Through the analysis of my past, present, and future I will analyze my passion for baseball as a child and how it contributed to how my masculinity was formed, I will analyze David Foster Wallace’s “This is Water” commencement speech and how it has contributed to…

“This was Alaska’s question.” With a sigh, he grabbed hold of his chair and lifted himself out of it, then wrote on the blackboard: How will we ever get out of this labyrinth of suffering? Alaska was obviously a deeply unhappy girl. Over the course of the novel, she showed signs of reckless behaviour, self destruction, sadness and hurt. Alaska was very hard headed and sometimes it was unclear if she was truly upset about certain situations or just being a typical moody teenager.…

Therefore, we are blissfully ignorant to our shortcomings and we are afforded endless opportunities; provided that we put forth the necessary effort. Furthermore, those unfortunate enough to be the children of natural conception are doomed to a life of serfdom and they will never achieve their dreams. If they are to prosper, it is imperative they exert tenfold the amount of effort as their elite counterparts.…

Aiza Nageeb A Fish Story Not everything in life is crystal clear; sometimes we need to dig deeper to find the true meaning behind a particular idea/thing. In the case study, "A Fish Story" a college professor is trying to teach his students a lesson by making them observe a small fish on a white plate. For three days in a row, the professor assigns the students the same assignment and as the days progress, the students find new results. The first day the students notice basic physical characteristics about the fish, like its size and the color of the plate it rests on. The second day the students use a book to find out about the type of fish it is, and the third day they dig deeper and observe minuscule details; like its weight, position of the mouth and texture.…

My earliest memories involve my father talking joyously about the paper he was working on to my mother. In the years to follow I was included into these conversations, minimally at first, but soon I would be receiving most of it. To my pleasure once I began homeschooling I was almost instantly enrolled in an introductory mechanics class with some laboratory work. Although this class was incredibly fun and intriguing, it was not until I took my first proper physics class with Professor Walter Lewin that I truly fell in love with physics. During the introduction Professor Lewin said something that would stay with me during and following the course, he claimed that during and after this course I would view the world in a completely different manner,…
