The students in Freedom Writers have to face life as if they are in a war. Everyday each student walks out of there house wondering if they are going to live. One major problem that the students face is other races hurting them. Each student in that class has a certain group of people that they stay with and those people are their same race. If another race talks or goes in the races “territory,” the students think that there is a war that is going to start. Another major problem that these students face is they have a poor home to go to. Some of these students are homeless and living on the streets, why others have drunk parents that take drugs. Some students parents are even in jail, such as Eva’s. Some of these issues are things that people I know have to face. All the students in this class hated school, they thought that school was a waste of time. Most of the students in class only went to class because they were made by their probation officer. They did not have any respect for the teacher and thought that the teacher would quit and fall under the pressure. The students interrupted the teacher during class, had arguments with other students, and did not listen to what the teacher was trying to tell them. Some of these attitudes I see in my own school. During class students shout things while the teacher is talking. Do not turn in their work. Some students do not give any efforts in class..
