Okay, so lets’ look at the elephant in the room; how many volcanos are active? Well, according to, “How Many Active Volcanos Are There” by Tom Simkin, each year, 50-70 volcanos erupt on average. For each decade, though, about 160 eruptions occur (Simkin 59). Unfortunately, though, that is only the least scary part. What is even more terrifying is this; according to, “How Many Active Volcanos Are There”, by Tom Simkin, there are about at least 1,000 volcanos that will erupt in the future someday. In other words, these volcanos could erupt any minute. Scary, huh? Yeah, that’ll get you ready for Halloween. But now, lets’ get to the good stuff. …show more content…
Even though volcanos can do this, it also depends a whole lot on the geographical feature (McDonaugh 60). With that in mind, a volcanic eruption can create soil that is close to perfect for farming. What happens is that the ash from the eruptions goes into the soil and breaks down over time to create nutrients for any plants that live in that area (McDonaugh 60). Not only that, but this volcanic ash can create moisture retention, which is amazing for plants and crops (McDonough 61). This is one of many examples of how volcanos affect the environment for the
