By being able to relate to your employees, it will then show the employees that you understand where they are coming from, because in all honesty every manager started out somewhere and most likely it was in the same position that some of the managers in today’s workforce employees hold. She felt she didn’t have a knack for business at the time since she was only eighteen years old. Now that she is older and a wiser, as she puts it, she had the realization that she needed to go back into that field. Not necessarily to be a business owner but to go into another field of business that she hadn’t realized was there in the first place. When she first started in school she started with business to follow in her father’s footsteps. She didn’t want that life, she didn’t want to run a family business or anything like that. She found that she liked the way an office setting worked so she started to look around at different degrees. She was originally drawn to a degree in psychology but honestly only personal reasons and like the study of the topic and not that of the actuality of finding a job. Her newest endeavor that was pointed out in this paper is human resource management. This career move makes sense for her since she loves to work in an office setting, she is an advocate for following rules and procedures of any company that she works for, and she can relate to almost any person, since she has worked a multitude of jobs that gives her the experience in communicating all of her peers and colleagues. The designated career path that I would set for her is to already continue working in the company that she works for. She has already completed her first step in the path that I have designed for her which is find a company that you would enjoy working for. Her next step would be to see what type or reimbursement her company is to offer if she decided to return to school to further her education in a field that pertains to current position or a positon that is also in the company. If her company does not offer tuition reimbursement, then she would also need to consider how she is going to pay for her classes.
