I chose books with reading levels ranging from 0.8- 3.6, in hopes for him to excel in reading academically and growing his passion for reading recreationally. I first selected Hey Mr. Choo-Choo, Where Are You Going? By Susan Wickberg and Up! By Kristine O’Connell George because they are simple book that are good for independent reading that will intrigue Finn. Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? by Dr. Seuss Next I selected five different concept picture books, with rhyming, counting, alphabet recognition and size relativity. A Pig is Big by Douglas Florian, Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss, Count! By Denise Fleming, LMNO Peas by Keith Baker, and Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? by Dr. Seuss. I selected these books for academic purposes, I am not sure how below level Finn is and what he struggle with so I tried to pick a variety of concept books for him to further his academic knowledge. Then I chose higher level entertaining books, like Tippy-Toe Chick, Go! By George Shannon is on a second grade reading level, it is an animal fantasy. This book with the colorful illustrations and easy to comprehend works will be perfect for Finn. I also picked Princess SmartyPants by Babette Cole. This book is on a third grade reading level but I believe Finn can comprehend the words in this Fairy tale, Fairy tales is one of Finn’s favorite genres as well, which I also believe will help him with mastering this book. …show more content…

This book does a wonderful job at presenting insights to their own problems with how other may laugh because he is a little boy wearing a dress. The end of the book asks if you see a ‘princess boy’ will you laugh, call him names, or will you like him for who he is; this book is such a good story in helping kids know they are not alone but also helping kids understand that they don’t have make fun of a ‘princess boy’.
