Reading to me is comparable to time travel. Anyone can learn from people who were living in different parts of the world, at times when they weren’t even alive. To me this presents incredible opportunities and I have recently started to take advantage of it. Instead of wasting my time on television, I spend on average two or three hours each day reading something. I enjoy reading about history and biographies. I have always been a strong believer that history repeats itself it’s important to know about the past to be successful in the future. Also, by reading biographies I can learn what people, who were already successful, did to better themselves. For example, I read Tim Tebow’s autobiography. Tebow was a successful quarterback and is still a great leader. After reading his autobiography I picked up on many things that he did such as working hard at becoming a good role model on and off the field, or working hard in the weight room. For example, Tebow would always try to be the best at things he could control. After reading about this I started putting more time into showing my teammates that I cared about them and I also began working out harder in the weight room. These things directly impacted my leadership skills throughout high school sports and after that. Would I have had improved my leadership and work ethic without reading? Maybe, but it would have taken a lot longer without learning those lessons. However, I haven’t always felt this way about
