The first thing to acknowledge before learning how Jesus made disciples is to understand what the word disciple means. According to Merriam-Webster the word disciple means “one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another.” The goal for Jesus was to find people who could accept and assist him in spreading God 's word for Him.
“And he said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.’” (Matt:4:19) In this passage Jesus is talking to some fisherman. He told them to follow him and he will teach them how to spread the word of God. He would use parables. The definition of a parable, according to your (who’s?) dictionary is “The definition of a parable is a simple story with a moral or a story told to teach a lesson.” Jesus use parables all the time (frequently, consistently) to teach his disciples. “And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to lose heart.” (Luke 11:1) Jesus used this parable to show a lesson to always pray and God will always be with them.
