How Is The Aztecs Powerful

A New, Powerful, Ancient Civilization: The Aztecs When people think of ancient civilizations, a few dominant ones come up. These are usually the Romans, the Greeks, the Egyptians, the Chinese, and a few others. But one that is equally powerful but never mentioned are the Aztecs. The Aztecs have been obscured because their empire did not last long, but that does not mean that they were not powerful. The Aztec legacy started in the beginning of the thirteenth century. They soon became a dominant force in Mesoamerica, and set up their main city on an island in Lake Texcoco, now Mexico City. By the fifteenth century, they had conquered most of Mesoamerica. However, the spaniard Hernán Cortés and his conquistadors then overthrew the Aztecs in 1521 with a small band of his soldiers and tens of thousands of rival tribesmen that joined them. The Aztec empire was the most powerful and advanced empire of Mesoamerica, and their buildings, religion, and inventions are some of the most progressive pieces of the Aztec’s legacy.
