(SIP-A)The characters in the story use technology for everything. (STEWE-1) The firemen use the Mechanical Hound to help them with their job, they are using technology. ”The Mechanical hound slept but did not sleep, lived but did not live in its gently humming, gently vibrating, softly illuminated kennel back in a dark corner of the firehouse”(21-22). The firemen use the hound to help sniff out people who have books and kill them. (STEWE-2) Mildred thinks that she has a great life by overdosing on sleeping pills.”This machine pumped all of the blood from the body and replaced it with fresh blood and serum”(12). Since Mildred constantly is taking sleeping pills she is being cleaned out by machines and is given clean,fresh blood. This also shows that she has no feelings in her heart for anyone she can just be cleaned out. (SIP-B) Montag has been around technology his whole life that he wants to explore the outside world and read books. (STEWE-1) When Montag was floating down the river he realizes what he has been missing out on. ”There must have been a billion leaves on the land; he waded in them, a dry river smelling of hot cloves and warm dust”(137).
