He then goes onto bashing the people who claim they are the wisest people in Athens. Politicians, poets and craftsman were known as one of the most wisest people in Athens . So Socrates went a questioned a political, poet and craftsman and made them realize they weren't actually wise. These people were furious with Socrates so they sent him to trial to later get executed. Sending him to trial was part of Socrates evidence as to why these people cause harm to Athens because he says that these people envy him, so by sending him away they are just avoiding their problems and will just continue this ritual with people in the future and their will be no change . The main protagonist in Socrates trickery was Meletus; a poet, who sent Socrates to trial because he questioned how wise he was.
