A use of verbal irony in the play is when Lysander is put under the flower’s spell to fall in love with Helena. He really loves Hermia but the flower is making him say the opposite of what he means. Another use is when Titania is under the flower’s spell to make her fall in love with an ass . . . I mean Bottom.
