How Is Romeo And Juliet Relevant Today

Growing up, most little girls’ dreams are to find their Prince Charming and live happily ever after. As human beings, we want to find someone and start a family with the love that we share. In today’s world, it seems as though the age a couple decides to get married is higher every year, but long ago, that age was very young. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, two young teens fall in love despite the rivalry between their families. While reading the story, I thought about how different present-day teen love is, but I could also see how the lessons taught throughout the play are still relevant now. Like young love today, Romeo and Juliet make the same mistake in that they take their relationship too seriously too quickly, yet the two differ because with teen love today, many do not marry the first person they fall in love with and teenagers nowadays do not have that fear of who their parents with force them to be with through arranged marriages. …show more content…
