How Is Racism Still Relevant Today

Racism in today’s society might seem like it has gone in away, but in reality Americans say that has become a bigger problem than it was back 20 years ago. This problem has affected millions of people not only in the US but all over. Racism is a thing that has in someway affected everyone and to some it has drastically changed how some people live today, I say that racism is still a thing because of how some people treat others in public. For example you could be waiting in line and the person in front of you gets their stuff checked out and you walk up and they ask you for your ID when the person in front was not asked for it. There is no separate drinking fountains schools and neighborhoods for the “colored” but still racism is still floating around in the air. Now, the biggest issue to me is when people assume you don't know things. In my opinion, it’s racist when someone assumes you don’t English, or anything modern or advanced. “When I take my children into our area hospital, and the receptionist hands me a card for a Spanish interpreter by assuming I don't speak English”. I know this because it has happened to my parents a couple of times. I don’t understand why people do it. It’s not like everyone from that race is bad just because they had one bad experience with them or because of what other people think. Racism is an issue in the world that has affected everyone here and sometimes really effect on changing a person’s day to ruined. This is a problem that i wish could go away but probably will never. Checking someone just because they are a different race is not right as well as assume someone does not know because of their race is just wrong. So overall racism is just not a right a thing to do and should not be done is still here even some people think it
