About this historical period, the movie teaches the viewers that the relationship between the Native people and the colonists were based on the Natives being peaceful and living their simple lives whereas the colonists trying to come in and invade the land, kill those Natives living there already, and to gain wealth through gold mining. Now, this piece of information was not too inaccurate since the colonizers did invade the land for gold and got in war with the Natives to steal their land.
On the other hand, the movie shows the viewers the love story that goes on between Pocahontas and John Smith. The movie shows them falling in love at first sight which is incorrect, historically speaking. At the time Pocahontas met John Smith, she was around 10 years old while John Smith was in his late twenties. They were never in love. In fact, if any feelings then John Smith thought of Pocahontas as his daughter. He was old enough to be her father which making them not in a romantic
