In “The Odyssey” there are many things that show that Odysseus is not an epic hero. For example whenever he loses his men Odysseus carries on as if nothing happened, when Odysseus and his men got off of Circe’s island Odysseus forgot to bury one of his best shipmates and only in the underworld did his fallen shipmate have to go tell Odysseus to bury him. On the contrary, when Odysseus and his men left the Cyclopes island, he started taunting Polythemus and even after it almost got all of him and his men killed, he taunted Polythemus again despite the fact that his shipmates told him to stop.
