The Great King Kamehameha A leader is successful by making laws to keep peace, and take care of their people. King Kamehameha was kind, and respectful. Kamehameha was kind and caring to his people. He was an effective and successful leader. Evidence can be found for this in Hawaii's Royal History by Helen Wong and Ann Rayson, and History of the Hawaiian Kingdom by Norris Potter, and Lawrence Kasdan. King Kamehameha was both an effective and successful leader because he changed his kingdom economically, culturally and politically. The first way king Kamehameha was an effective and successful leader was because he changed his kingdom economically when he collected taxes. Evidence for this can be found when Norris Potter and Lawrence Kasdon wrote, “They collected taxes in the traditional way, receiving food and other gifts from commoners.”(Potter, Kasdon, 2003) This proves kingdom Kamehameha was an effective leader because he proves he know how and what to do to help his kingdom. New gifts and food affected the kingdom’s diets. Not only did king Kamehameha changed things economically but also culturally. …show more content…
Evidence for this can be found when Helen Wong, and Ann Rayson wrote, “ Another result of the sandalwood trade was the settlement of foreigner on the islands.”(Wong, Rayson 1982)These foreigners affected the kingdom because the population grew and foreigners brought their new religion and culture with them. This shows King Kamehameha effective leader because it shows he is open hearted to let the foreigner into his kingdom. This proves King Kamehameha was an effective leader because it shows he trust foreigners. King Kamehameha changed things culturally, he equally changed things
