How Is Jesus Validate The Old Testament

The word reliable means to be trustworthy and as a Christian I believe that the Old Testament is very reliable. The books within the Old Testament are like a narrative, they are stories that explain how the world was created and preparing us for the coming of Jesus. It is important to know where you came from to know where you are going. After reading the assigned material this week, my belief in the Bible is only reinforced and made stronger. Norman Geisler describes in his book how Jesus validates the Old Testament in the New Testament. Jesus acknowledges the Old Testament’s divine authority many times in Matthew stating the phrase “it is written” (Mathew 4:4,7, and 10). Jesus says “the scripture cannot be broken” (John 10:35). Geisler also mentions how Jesus made claims supporting the historical and scientific accuracy of the Old Testament. “In the beginning God created heaven and earth” (Genesis 1:1). Scripture reflects how God has been present since the beginning of time. There were many prophecies told in the Old Testament, and later they were confirmed in the New Testament. Isaiah 7:14, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” This is fulfilled in Matthew 1:22-23, “Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” This is an example of how God used prophets such as Isaiah to predict the coming of Christ. Isaiah prophesied the birth of Christ 700 years before it actually happened. All of this shows how God inspired the Old Testament and spoke His will through the mind of the
