How Is Jay Gatsby Different

What would be different in the novel, if the main character was not Jay Gatsby? In the novel the characters fluctuate quite often. The characters in the novel have secrets they are keeping from each other. This book was written by Scott F. Fitzgerald. If someone other than J. Gatsby was the main character the title would be very different. There would be a change in plot and also a lot of point of views would change about who is a good/bad person because we are viewing a different person's point of view. Also, But one thing it wouldn’t of changed would be the outcome of the story due to the fact that our point of view doesn’t matter when it comes to the story.

The title of the book if daisy was the main character would most likely be “The Desirable Daisy” due to the fact that she was very popular and a lot of guys were attracted to her. In the novel the Author stated “”You see I think everything’s terrible anyhow,” she went on in a convinced way. “Everybody thinks so--the most advanced people. And I know, I’ve been everywhere and seen everything and done everything.” Her eyes flashed around her in a defiant way, rather like Tom’s and she laughed with thrilling scorn. “”Sophisticated-- God, I’m Sophisticated!””.

Myrtle’s affair is what led to her actions the night she died when “this woman rushed out at us just as we were passing a car coming the other way. It all happened in a minute, but it seemed to me that she wanted to speak to us, thought we were somebody she knew.”(pg 143) She was hit because she had seen Tom driving the car earlier and wanted to get his attention because her husband was wanting to leave the next day and take her with him.
