2006). The article tries to correlate ideal body image (IBI) to obesity, in specific the African American youth. Chen and Wang’s population was from four Chicago public schools within the age category 10-14 years old of 402 low-income profiles using questionaries’ to assess ideal body image, weight perceptions, weight control practice and self-efficacy. Questions ranged from a wide variety, mainly asking about physical activity one participated in and how much television was being watched in a seven day time period. Giving out questionnaire for receiving information carries an issue. Students are more likely to conform to the norm and give answers based on how their peers would answer rather than admitting about poor exercise and excessive amounts of television. Results showed those with middle ideal body figure of girls selected smaller body sizes that were up to twice as likely to have unhealthy diet by consuming less fruits and milk. Elizabeth R. Pulgaron, PhD, works in the department of pediatrics at the University of Miami. Pulgaron has wrote a handful of scholarly articles on obesity and diabetes. According to the article, childhood obesity and those overweight are as high as 43 million worldwide (2013). Obesity can be due to multiple factors but Pulgaron looks at if one is obese in adolescents they were more than likely obese as a child. Children are becoming more dependent on technology and relying less on getting daily exercise. Diet is the key for starting children off in the right direction to living a healthy life and why so many states are paying attention to elementary/high school lunches. According to the study, 35 percent watched TV for 3 or more hours per day on a school day (Pulgaron, 2013). Using PubMed and Psychlofo in 2012 searches were made using key words obesity and comorbidity to get a wider view of the disease. The purpose of the study was to find correlating factors on what contributed to childhood obesity. Factors included ADHD, psychological comorbidities, metabolic risk factors, asthma and others.
