He was born to parents who were actors. While following their dreams they went broke. During this hard time his family was torn apart. His father left and his mother passed away. He was adopted by the Allan Family. The father was a very wealthy Tobacco exporter. (Galileo) His adopted family spoiled him rotten. He later moved to England to attend school. School drained his funds and he decided to call home and ask for money. His father was not happy with his decisions thus far and told him no. Out of desperation, Poe got the idea to join the army. While in the army, he wrote his first book “Tamerlane and Other poem.” He moved quickly up the line and became a sergeant. He requested to be discharged so he could move back to Boston. (Galileo) Still dealing with his father’s disapproval Poe joined a military school but got kicked out and did not get his father’s approval. This story is about a narrator who visits an old friend who comes from an aristocrat family. Rodrick Usher is dying. He is very mysterious and the family house is also very mysterious. When the narrator gets to the house he realized that his sister had just passed and he was not dealing with her death very well. He buried his sister in the family tombstone grave below the house. As time went on he realized his sister was more than just his sister. It was his significant other. After burying his still alive sister he would go have sexual relations with her. Rodrick’s’ family had kids with close family members. They wanted to keep the family name going so 1st cousins, aunts, uncles etc. were having kids together. He knew that their job was to have kids to continue the family name and that that Rodrick could not do that since his sister was dying. To make things worse he was dying himself. That combination on incest with the same gene pool ended with short lives, diseases and really unreasonable family member. The last two family members were dying and the house was
