When music starts playing in a scene, a high-energy activity or some sort of confrontation typically follows. In the bank robbery scene, music is heard from the man’s car before the robbery occurs. As well as the music foreshadowing a high-energy event, the music in this scene is particularly peculiar because there are words heard in the snippet of music. The three words heard are “freedom is gone” which foreshadows Scorpio’s freedom being taken from him at the end of the movie. Music is again heard when Callahan is running through the woods which foreshadows the confrontation that is about to occur between himself and Scorpio at the cross statue in the woods. The only time music is played that does not follow this pattern of foreshadowing a confrontation is in the stadium scene when music is played after the action scene between Callahan and Scorpio.
