When it comes to generations, you either love your generation or hate your generations. Cohorts are kind of similar to generations, except they are a more general term. Cohort is a group of people bonded together. A birth cohort is a set of people who were born during a particular time period; this is really similar to generations. Generation is a type of birth cohort, constructed by social scientists, historians, marketers and others. Now that we have figured out how they are connected, I’d like to talk about some examples. When it comes down to my generation, I know a lot of girls that would wish they were born in a different birth cohort and into the 1960’s. Most wish they had the vintage clothing like they use to have back then in the 1960’s. Each generation has their own unique importance; like for example my generation is very well know for technology. When people think about the Generation Z, they consider us as the last generation where the kids started to grow up with technology. We are the experts when it comes to technology, because we grew up with it. In high school, I never really did consider my generation very cohort, I always thought everyone was distant in their own cohorts. As I got to college I found my own cohort group that makes me feel better about my birth cohort and not so isolated. I feel more comfortable and more like a community with them. I feel like a part of my generation and not a loner. Belonging is a great feeling.
