Back in the 1960's people such as Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. fought for civil rights. In the 2016, Leshia Evans is a protester for the Black Lives Matter movement and was detained by law enforcement officers near the police headquarters in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Saturday, July 9. She was involved in a march for the death of Alton Sterling and did not resist arrest, she simply disobeyed the police officer's order to get back and then they arrested her. Civil Disobedience affected us positively in the civil rights movement in the 1960's, but now, I feel as if people don't put forth enough initiative for it to be effective in the “ Black Lives Matter “ movement.

It is a quote created because of all the police brutality which is also a reoccurring issue nowadays too. In July, Philando Castile was shot and killed in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. His fiancee, Diamond Reynolds, filmed a vivid video that showed Castile bleeding to death from gunshot wounds. The officer shot him three times because he had a busted taillight. The day before Castile was killed, Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old father of five, became yet another black male killed by police this year. The two officers were responding to reports of a man carrying a gun, threatening others and selling CD's in front of a Triple S convenience store. “Julia Craven, Oct. 13,2016.” These are just a few of the incidents caused by police men and women this year. Roughly, 4 in 10 people support Black Lives Matter. Yes, they march and they riot just as they did back then but now, I feel as if we as a society aren't trying as hard to actually see a change because we as a people aren't getting persecuted and tormented for being black anymore so we aren’t being as thorough as we should actually
