Different Versions of People that Represent Good and Bad Pride Pride; a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements. But, there can be two versions of pride; good pride and bad pride. The difference between the two is that good pride can represent our dignity, self-respect, our self-confidence and reflect on how we act. Bad pride can lead to self-destructive behavior and is usually undetectable to the person, but to others it is very obvious. They are unaware that their pride has changed because it changes without notice. That’s where Caesar and Brutus differ. Brutus took pride in the country and had respect for the people of Rome. He had confidence in himself and that he can rule Rome better than Caesar, whereas Caesar was focused on the power that he was getting. He wasn’t aware on what was going on around him, he was just focused on himself. While both Caesar and Brutus had ambition, the differences in their deaths create a contrast between pride in oneself and pride in one's country. Someone who is prideful in not only themselves, but in other people are different from the people who are only have pride in themselves. Having the type of power that Caesar had can trick a person into thinking that a person can become invincible. “Hence! Whilt thou lift up Olympus?” (Shakespeare, Julius Caesar III .i. 385).
