Atticus Finch was very brave throughout the book. He went alone to defend the innocent black man overnight when a entire mob of people came to beat Tom Robinson up. “You know what we want,” another man said. “Get aside from the door, Mr. Finch.”- one of the mob members.(Harper Lee, 153) Atticus also shows courage in the later chapters of the book when he takes a case to defend Tom Robinson. Atticus is always in a suit and he is constantly neat and tidy. “He never loosened a scrap of his clothing until he undressed at bedtime…” (Harper Lee, 270)He never showed any signs of a bad human being, he always wore his suit that he wore to work until he went to bed. Atticus instead of taking money from the poor Cunningham's he accepts payments and tells them not to worry about it. “Mr. Finch, I don't know when I’ll ever be able to pay you.”, “ Let that be the least of your worries, Walter.” Atticus said.(Harper Lee, 27) Atticus Finch showed manners by putting Tom Robinson before himself, he took the case with Tom so that he could do what was right. When he took the case and defended Tom he was risking his own job by helping a black man, Atticus risked him not being re-elected for
