In Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible Abigail Williams is a deceitful character who takes advantage of many people throughout the play. In the first scene of the play Abigail allegedly lies to her uncle about her actors in the woods. She swears to him that all they did was have fun, “There is nothin’ more. I swear it, uncle” (Miller 464). Abigail's uncle believes her lies and soon the the town begins to believe her foolish lies because no one believes someone would lie about witchcraft. She fools everyone in the town that she sees spirits of people, innocent people who have never prepformed anytype of witchcraft.
