The United States is considered to have one of the best constructed governments on Earth. Unlike many countries, all citizens of the US get their own set of rights along with a sense of protection and tranquility. There is a reason the Star Spangled Banner ends with “O’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?” (Key 8) Along with our freedom, we are known worldwide for gaining independence from one of the greatest armies and navies of the time, Great Britain. Although complete independence was what our founding fathers had in mind, this did not occur. This statement has a few keywords to represent the dependence the US wants from the larger eastern countries. Between contracting alliances and establishing commerce, it is evident as to what extent the nation truly wants independence. Establishing commerce is the buying and selling of goods. This is not just on a small local scale. This commerce is between nations. How does a new country get the materials it needs to build itself? It needs to get it from other countries. If no country were to want to trade, the economy would cease to exist. At the time, the biggest material for us was wood.
