How I Write A Positive Memo Essay
An interoffice memo is one way that a manager or anyone else sends information to others in the same office. In order to communicate effectively, there must be a meeting of the minds. The definition is communication is the ‘transmission of information and meaning from a sender to a receiver’ (Guffey & Loewy, 2014, p.122). How can we do this?
There are five necessary steps to ensure effective communication:
1. Sender has idea
2. Sender encodes message
3. Sender selects channel and transmits message
4. Receiver decodes message
5. Feedback returns to sender
Each of the previous steps is essential to constructing an effective communication (Guffey & Loewy, 2014, p.123). Omitting any step could lead to miscommunication or misinterpretation.
The first step is to have an idea. Once there is an idea, the sender must decide how to compose the message. The next step is to select a channel that will be the most effective way to communicate the message. The correct channel can make all the difference in effective communication. When the receivers get the message, they must understand the message. The feedback returned to the senders lets them know whether the message was clear or not.
