Personal Narrative: How I Learned And Affected My Life

The one time that I learned and impacted my life drastically was the first year that I moved to the U.S. I learned to talk and I learned to read. People still judge the way I spell, say, or pronounce, a certain word. It used to bother me how others could say “Karen can you say refrigerator” or another word that they knew I struggled to say. As I’ve gotten older I have realized that I was actually ahead of the class by being bilingual. I learned more than they did by the the end of my second grade year. I left second grade speaking some english and still fluent spanish.
In school I have learned not only the basics: math, english, reading, and social studies. But, I learned the culture of the United States. Now I know that sounds crazy but

We would practice my pros and cons on the candy I would pick at the store. I would pick up a chocolate and on my other hand I would have Skittles. Then my grandma would ask; what 's your favorite. Now I’m not comparing my friends to candy but I had the same mind set. Whats what I really wanted. Make my mom happy or be popular in school and let my grades drop to the bottom. Even with the mindset of an eighth grader I chose to keep my name in the A honor roll.
When I dropped my other “friends” I was very upset. I thought that being popular was the key to being cool. But as time went on the kids that I thought were just “average” became my best of friends. These are the kids that still to this day stick with me through thick and thin. We have cried together and laughed together but most importantly we are learning how to become young adults. We have gone through a lot but we have learned from each other that together we are stronger and that if we stay true to each other we will keep our friendship for a long ways to

One day we were talking at lunch and a girl came up to us and started talking to us about herself and how discourteous her friends were to her, of course we told her that she could hang out with us. All three of us had the same class and became best friends quickly, after that I made some friends and I had the best school year of my life. The 6th grader that sat next to me was Destiny who, after 6th grade, went to Somerset but to this day we are still best friends. The girl who came up to us was Yesenia, who, after 6th grade, stayed being my best friend, all throughout middle school and was the only true friend I had all those years, she is still the best friend that I will ever have. I started that school year terrified, sad, and angry with my mom for making me move away from my friends, I’m fortuitous that I move or I wouldn't have met my two best friends that I consider family.…

It’s very strange how one experience or choice you make in your life can change the rest of your life that follows that event, would you then in turn change these decisions you made. Such as your what if your mom conceived you not on the knowing basis. What if everyone was telling her not to because she was to be a single mom and that’s not a world a child should be born into, but then what if she challenged this belief that she grew up with. This then in turn affected all her choices later in life, but then vice versa what if she didn't challenge this belief and stuck with what she knew. This may be of the more extreme choices in life that some people must make but we all have that certain time in our life that comes where we must break away and make…

When it came to Spanish I was able to understand it and sort of speak it but I was not able to read or write it, that comes later in my life. A moment in when language (Spanish) really changed a lot in my life was when I got into high school and toke my first Spanish class. This changed a lot in my life because taking this class would help me read and write Spanish while also improving how I pronounced words and spoke so that it would become fluent. As I grew up I did learn more and more at home so speaking Spanish became easier but it still had a lack of fluency.…

What I learned about myself is that I have potential for being a global manager. Looking over the questions, I tend to lack in my experiences more than my actual skills. What I’ve learned is that I can adapt quick and connect with people easily, but I don’t have many experiences in it. To widen my range of experiences I would most likely have to travel more and emerge myself directly into new cultures. I would also have to study different languages a bit more for that is an area I very much lack in.…
