How Hockey Changed My Life

My first two years of high school were spent at Immaculate High School. There I met some amazing friends and improved my level of play in sports. I challenged myself with honors courses and got involved as much as my schedule permitted. During my freshman year, I asked my counselor if I could take more challenging courses. She agreed and by sophomore year I was in honors chemistry, geometry, English, and history. While it was more difficult, I enjoyed the challenge of the higher level courses. At Immaculate, I played varsity field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse as a freshman and continued on my sophomore year. I really liked my coaches in field hockey. They taught me more about the sport and showed me how to better use my skills. In ice hockey I played on an all boys team. At first this was a hard transition because I was used to playing with girls, but after a couple of weeks I started to enjoy playing. Everyone was nice and accepting of me being on their team. Throughout the two years on the hockey team I made some incredible friends who I am still friends with today. They had my back on and off the ice and were always there for me when I needed it the most. Playing on the boy’s hockey team taught me to be more aggressive and more confident. …show more content…

I spent most of my summer travelling across the Southeast playing in tournaments in Atlanta, Charleston, and Raleigh, where I was able to experience playing against very talented players in front of several college coaches. These tournaments have given me some of the greatest experiences of my life, and really reflect just why and how much I love baseball.…
