Karl Marx was a German philosopher and economist, who published the Communist Manifesto in 1848. He was an influential writer and in his writing he conveys the idea of communism and how the proletariat will ultimately gain political power. That the abolition of private property will result in a society with no classes, hence no class antagonism. Marx suggests that having the right to private property is what causes capitalism to exist in the first place. Capitalism leads to the proletariat becoming heavily dependent on the Capitalist. They have power over the working class, since they own private property, have the ability to gain more resources, capital, and money, which they use to exploit the working class. As Capitalism progresses, class antagonism increases, because the capitalist get wealthier and the people from the proletariat class are transformed into insignificant fragile commodities that are living under increasingly harsh conditions.
