In 1500 England, a man's honor was defined through his courage, manliness, or name. So when someone back then would insult another man’s honor it would be cause for an instant duel, which was illegal at the time so the men would have to take it somewhere else. They usually lacked self control and were quick to anger or offense, which lead to a lot of these duels. Honor has changed dramatically over time because currently in England, they are participating in what is called “honor killing.” Basically, parents are killing their children that are young adults. They may say that in American culture honor has always been based on your respect that you have for others or the good that you do. To a certain degree this can be seen as true, but it also has changed enough that we can’t say that the definition of honor has stayed the same. Just like a family, it grows and changes over time. It’s the same concept with this situation. People’s opinions have changed, people’s actions and way of life has changed which is something that happens and nobody can really prevent. With honor, it can't be seen as easily seen as maybe in the 1800 or 1900 America.
