Harvey began the day after I moved in, so it really changed the atmosphere of the campus. Usually there would be many activities and giveaways on campus after the students move in, but it had to be cut short because of the hurricane. I was stressed and scared throughout this whole experience. My parents decided to go back to Houston that Friday which caused me to get worried about their safety. It was also going to be my first time experiencing a hurricane without them nearby. I tried to remain calm and keep myself in my dorm. I slept on the couch so I can stay away from windows in case they broke during the storm. However, it did not keep me from hearing the loud thunders and feeling the room shake a little bit.
