How Group Work Affect The Self-Esteem

When critically listening, I always pay attention to the speaker's ethos, pathos, and logos. I pay close attention to these different attributes so that I am able to determine how credible, reasonable, and trustworthy a speaker's information is. One theory that I have been able to implement while trying to complete various activities with other people is the Group Dynamics Theory. The reason why this theory stands out so much to me is because it allows me to understand just how much group work can affect the self-esteem of the individuals who make up a group. The theory was developed in 2015 by Donald F. Sacco of The University of Southern Mississippi and Michael J. Bernstein of Penn State Abington.

What this means is that people that are "left out" of group activities can lose more self-esteem and morality than people who are included in low-status groups. This theory may be difficult to understand; however, I use it almost every time that I work in a group. I always try to make sure that group morale is high and that the members of the group feel like their effort is valued. I take precautions so that my group members do not experience a loss in self-esteem and so that my group members do not lose interest in the group's task. In lamest terms, I try to make sure that everyone in the group feels like they are completing the task at hand effectively. I believe that my group work has been increasingly effective throughout the semester because I have been following the guidelines that are explained in the Group Dynamics
